As promised, here's the final part (3 of 3) of the romantic LOVE story of Angela and Kenna. Thank you all for staying glued to #AngelaWedsKen2015 as the amount of views increased significantly on the last blog post. Angela & Kenna otherwise known as Barbie & Ken can't wait to say their I dos in 2015. FTK~Konnect is happy to be connecting the dots of their special day. The planning and designing of their wedding day started early enough to ensure for a stress free day. We are gearing up for the trip! Read below to get the scoop of their beautiful engagement dinner party.

Barbie & Ken's World!

Engagements are such a special time in a couples’ life to reflect on the moments of dating that got them to where they are, and to look forward to the nuptials to come. Also, an engagement party is a party held to celebrate a couple's recent engagement and to help future wedding guests to get to know one another. Three months after Angela and Kenna were officially engaged the couple, their friends, and family organized a spectacular engagement party. The engagement party was particularly special because it was exactly one year before the couple is actually set to be married!

At first the couple planned to do something extremely simple; late afternoon cocktail party with just passed appetizers, and they would be done. June came along, and guess what! Angela and Kenna changed their minds as they were driving one evening. So, all of a sudden, their engagement party turned to an all-white theme with lots of blue(s), candle light, great food and lots of drinks! According to Angela “it was so much fun to put together”, especially since it is completely opposite of what their wedding will be like.

The event was held at Shangrila Garden in Gwynn Oak MD, on August 29, 2014. According to Angela” To say that Kenna and I’s engagement party was the best night of our lives to date is an extreme understatement!” Their guests came decked out in all white cocktail chic. The couple however, wore turquoise coordinating attire. The hall was also decorated in different shades of turquoise and light blue. The incredible décor, program, invites, menu, and name cards were all hand made by the bride and her bridal party. It was a formal sit down dinner filled with intimate toasts, laughs, and memories.

Wedding party proposal - Angela and Kenna (Part 2)

How did Angela pop the question?

Angela understands that the selection process of choosing bridesmaids is a key element to the success of a wedding; especially hers. Being a bridesmaid can be a large time and financial commitment. Angela thought it was important to show her girls how much they meant (continue to mean) to her — and how much she appreciates their willingness to help her with her special day. Angela said: "Since I am a “do it yourself” bride I opted to hand make all of my proposals. It was a fun arts and crafts project. I encourage other brides to do the same."

There were three different types of proposals, but each one was decorated with wine, violet, and gold.
The first proposal was for the maid of honor. She decorated a medium sized wine colored box with violet ribbon and a matching name tag. Inside of the box was a box of chocolates with a magenta balloon on top. Attached to the balloon was a note that said pop me and a safety pin attached to the note. She also inserted confetti and a note inside the balloon that said “will you be my maid of honor”. When she received the box all she had to do was open it and pop the balloon to find the hidden message. She loved it!

The second proposal was for her matron of honor. This proposal was a bit more difficult because she lives in another state so Angela didn't know exactly when she would be able to give it to her. She decided going the virtual route would be best.  Angela purchased six pieces of card stock in wine and violet. She then proceeded to write “Will you be my matron of honor” on the cards. After this, she took a picture with each different card which she then put the pictures in a collage. Following that, she contacted her matron of honor on WhatsApp and pretended like she had something very urgent to discuss with her. She was very worried. Angela told her she had something very important to ask her and of course her friend was curious to know. Angela then sent her the photo of herself holding the sign boards.  She immediately said yes. It was awesome!

Lastly, Angela designed a proposal for her bridesmaids. She decided a ring pop proposal would be ideal. She got 4 small wine colored boxes, violet ribbon, gold mesh, violet shredded paper, and four ring pops. She simply placed the shredded paper into the box then placed the ring pop on top. On the box lid She pasted a note that said “will you be my bridesmaid” She then closed the box, tied it with ribbon, added the mesh, and added each brides maids name tag. When each girl received their box all they had to do was open it for their surprise! surprise! Angela said It was really a memorable experience for her and advises that all brides should think of a fun way to ask their girls to be a part of their wedding!

All of her bridesmaids will always remember how she asked them to be a part of her day!

Engaged Couple Alert - Angela and Kenna

The Love Story

Angela and Kenna's relationship began like any good old - fashioned Nigerian love story: at University. It was the last day of classes that spring semester at Morgan State University. Both of them met in Holmes Hall, the campus center.  Kenna was leaving the building with Angela's then roommate, while Angela was entering the building with two of her girlfriends.

They had seen each other around campus occasionally but they were never officially introduced. Angela’s roommate was excited to introduce the two of them. They however, remained cool in demeanor during their first formal introduction.  "She was the most beautiful girl in the room" recalled Kenna of that fateful afternoon.  A delicate silence filled the room and both parties left to go about their day. The initial meeting was brief but they both knew they would see each other again. It was meant to be.

That summer Angela moved back to New York, but the couple-to-be still kept in touch. Throughout their time apart they remained patient and persistent in making their friendship work. They communicated through endless Facebook messages and Skype calls about any and everything. After months and months of friendly conversations, text messages, and phone calls Angela was finally visiting Baltimore. Kenna was having a huge birthday party and Angela had to be there.

Kenna knew it was time to make his move from friends to eternal lovers! Kenna arranged a romantic homemade dinner for Angela’s arrival. "When I saw that he made dinner I knew that the feeling of more than friendship was mutual” recalled Angela.  She knew that this guy was all she had ever dreamed of.  She saw all the characteristics that she wanted in a life partner "charming, smart, responsible, funny, God fearing and family oriented." She couldn’t have asked for more.  They both knew from then they couldn't live without each other.

A few months after that Angela moved back to Baltimore and they started an official relationship. The two of them then continued there study at Morgan where they graduated together.  And that is how two close friends grew into romantic lovers.

At FTK~Konnect events we deemed it necessary to include the graduation pictures of Angela & Kenna because a couple who meets at school should graduate together! It is the right thing to do - don't you think?!? We love their romantic love story - especially these two! This is Kenna's second undergrad degree - his first degree was in civil engineering while the second is in information technology. Angela graduated in political science and international studies!

The Proposal

Kenna and Angela had been dating for three and a half years when they decided to get married. The proposal started with a spring road trip to Virginia. On the second day of the road trip Kenna told Angela that he had made reservations for dinner at the Marriott, and then after that they would go out dancing at Ozio’s Roof Top Lounge in DC.

Angela was excited so she got ready for the exciting evening ahead. When they arrived at the restaurant the staff had arranged a beautiful candle lit, dinner for two.  They sat down and ordered dinner as they normally would.  During dinner Kenna discussed their relationship, his love for Angela, and why he wanted to spend the rest of his life with her. In Angela’s mind she wondered why he was being so romantic. She assumed he was really enjoying the trip and wanted to discuss all their memories.

Angela soon realized what was happening when Kenna got on one knee with a beautiful past present future gold banded ring! After that Kenna said the magical words every woman dreams of hearing “will you marry me.”  Angela Immediately said yes!

Following this, the members of the staff and people in the restaurant began cheering and congratulating the newly engaged couple. The staff brought out a delicious red velvet cake with the words congrats delicately written in chocolate.  Soon after the proposal, they went to Ozio’s  Roof Top as planned where they met with friends and loved ones.

The next morning the couple continued their trip to Virginia Beach. They spent the next two days basking in the sun celebrating their upcoming nuptials with friends.
